If this is your first time, bring clothes that you would feel comfortable working out in. That includes shorts, t-shirt, etc. If you don't own a "gi" (traditional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu uniform), that's ok! We have water fountains but if you prefer your own water, please bring a bottle as well.
If you are participating in a No-Gi class, please bring a tight-fitting shirt (generally, a rashguard) and shorts with no pockets or zippers, if possible. These rules are to help prevent injury to you and your training partners. Please reach out if you need assistance in procuring a uniform for Gi or No-Gi classes.
Absolutely - starting BJJ while out of shape is not only feasible but encouraged. We will guide you as you start your unique journey into BJJ. Over time, your body will adapt and improve in stamina, strength, and flexibility.
As you attend classes regularly, you are always welcome to communicate with your instructors about any concerns, and prioritize safety to prevent injuries. Our focus at Cascades BJJ is to welcome you into the wonderful community we've cultivated over years.
